The Paul Lynde Show is definitely
Paul Lynde's show. He is a master of the art of registering
sulfurous distaste, and his scriptwriters give him ample opportunity to
do so. He plays Paul Simms, a lawyer, and what's bugging him is
the presence in his house of his new son-in-law, Howie (John Calvin), a
cheerfully bovine lad who has an IQ of 185, shoots golf in the 60's and
knows everything about everything - except how to support himself
without sponging off of his father-in-law. Paul's wife Martha
(Elizabeth Allen) tries to keep him sedated with martinis, but the only
elixir Paul wants is one that will make Howie disappear. Martha:
"Dear, sit down and don't be upset. You'll get an
ulcer." Paul: "I have an ulcer. It
has an IQ of 185." The two daughters of the house are
portrayed by Jane Actman and Pamelyn Ferdin. Debut: ABC, Sept. 13. |
